Cargo slings are an integral part of lifting machines, they are subject to the requirements and rules of industrial safety in accordance with the Federal Law "On Industrial Safety of Hazardous Production Facilities" No. 116 of July 21, 1997.
A cargo sling is a removable load–grabbing device hung on a cargo hook of a lifting machine, a device consisting of flexible elements (ropes, chains, textile ribbons, strands of synthetic materials, etc.), the ends of which can be equipped with end elements: gripping devices (hooks, staples, grips of various designs) and end links.
Slings are used on lifting machines and devices for lifting and moving in industry, construction, transport, ports, warehouses and other facilities in temperate and cold climates.
Stprops are:
- Textile
- Chain
- Cable cars
Textile slings
Textile slings are much lighter than rope and chain slings. They are used for lifting any cargo, including fragile parts and with high processing accuracy. Textile slings are strong enough to withstand high loads, flexible and lightweight, which greatly simplifies their storage and transportation. Textile slings are widely used in various industries - in construction, metallurgy, mining, aviation, railway.
Textile slings are divided into:
- Belt slings
- General purpose textile belt slings (STP, STK, STS, (n)ST, ST23)
- Textile belt heat-resistant slings
- Textile belt slings for work in aggressive environments (loop - STPA 1-5 and ring - STKA 1-5, )
- Textile belt slings with positive buoyancy (loop and ring)
- Textile transport and packaging slings
- Textile cargo transport slings (MV STTc; MV STTp)
- Round - row slings
- General purpose textile round-string slings (STPk, STKK, STPKs, (n)STk)
- Textile round-row heat-resistant slings (STPc, STCC, STPKs)
- Round-row textile slings for work in aggressive environments (loop - STPAk 1-5 and ring - STKAk 1-5, )
- Textile round-string slings with positive buoyancy (loop and ring, STPc, STCc)
- Textile round-row traction slings
- Textile round-row indicator slings
- Textile slings for aggressive environments

Chain slings
Chain slings are made of imported components - class T(8), are characterized by increased strength, extended service life, small size and weight, corrosion resistance. Due to the fact that the slings of the 8th strength class have a small weight, work with them can be done by one person. Slings are manufactured with a safety factor of 4:1; they are carried out with various load capacities from 1.20 (chain Ø7 mm) to 54.0 tons (chain Ø32 mm).
Rope slings
Steel rope slings are characterized by high load capacity and flexibility. They are less time-consuming to manufacture than other types, are reliable enough and resistant to sudden dynamic loads. The destruction of the rope occurs gradually, which allows you to monitor its condition and discard it in a timely manner. Compared with other materials, the strength of steel rope slings is the greatest, and defects on them are easier to detect, and therefore they are more often used for lifting heavy critical loads than slings made of other materials. But the main reason for their widespread use in our country is that they are much cheaper than other types of slings – textile or chain.
